We continued investing the causes of ocean surface circulation. Today, we investigated the Coriolis Effect. Using Coriolis tables, students made predictions based on which direction they thought that a metal ball would be deflected when launched. Afterwards, they launched the metal ball and observed it being deflected to the right when the Coriolis table rotated clockwise (Northern Hemisphere) and to the left when the Coriolis table was rotated counter-clockwise (Southern Hemisphere).
